Nadine Mackay - Counselling Intern

About me
Hi, my name is Nadine and I’m based in the Central North Island.
Life can have its challenges sometimes but you don’t have to navigate the bumps alone. I’ve
experienced my own bumps and I understand how difficult it can be to reach out and share your
story because I’ve sat in the clients seat myself.
My hope is to provide an empathetic and compassionate space where you can speak openly
without being judged, feel heard, and explore what matters to you. I believe that working
through challenges begins with having the space to slow down and make sense of our unique
and individual experiences.
With a background in male-orientated workspaces I recognise that many men have been taught
to cope on their own. From this stems my particular interest in supporting men who may find it
difficult to talk about what they’re carrying.
I work from a client-centred perspective which means our sessions are about you and are
shaped around your needs, style and pace. You don’t have to have it all figured out – we can
simply start with unpacking what’s on your mind.
Alongside the things you might typically expect from counselling I believe respect, trust,
relatability and a feeling of safety are essential, and a good laugh can also play a part in the
healing process when it’s needed.
I’m a student affiliate of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and work within
their Code of Ethics, as well as actively engaging in ongoing professional development and
regular independent supervision.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a confidential space to chat
things through, I’m committed to holding your story with the care it deserves and look forward to
working alongside you.
I’m available online with flexible hours, or in person by arrangement.
